Quantitative Expertise: The Amsshare Journey from Articles to Action
Founded in 2023 by Sven Peter Kooi and Thomas van den Berg, Amsshare initially served as a platform for sharing insightful articles drawn from personal academic and professional experiences. The name Amsshare comes from Ams, for Amsterdam, where we met during our studies, and share, which reflects both stocks – a key part of our finance background – and our commitment to sharing knowledge through articles. Today, Amsshare has grown into a full-service company, offering quantitative solutions in Finance and Data. Below, we give a little more background about ourselves.
Sven Peter holds a BSc in Business Administration with a specialisation in Finance and a minor in Risk Management for Financial Institutions. In 2024, he graduated cum laude with an MSc in Finance, focusing on Quantitative Finance, covering topics like derivatives and credit, systemic and complexity risk. During his studies, he also gained professionel experience at a risk management firm, providing data and risk solutions compliant with ECB and ESMA regulations for financial institutions, such as asset management firms. His work primarily involved PRIIPS regulations, financial market, credit & liquidity risk modelling, performance scenario stress testing and general quantitative modelling. In his free time, he loves to work out in the gym and play padel, squash or spikeball with friends.
Thomas also gained a BSc in Business Administration and an MSc in Finance, including an exchange at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. In addition to the academic experiences, he developed professional experience at Van Lanschot Kempen and PwC. At PwC, he mainly worked on credit risk modelling (Expected Credit Loss model) in the banking industry (IFRS 9) and the updating of automated reporting tools to align a client’s disclosure with the ECB regulations. At Van Lanschot Kempen, he worked on analysing client data to optimise the client and prospect journey, as well as on analysing client’s real estate portfolios. Outside of work, he likes to play hockey, go bouldering or go out for a run in the Vondelpark.
